Comedian wants restraining order against Trump over nuke threats
Comedian Maria Bamford claims she’s terrified of President Trump and his nuclear threats – and wants a judge to keep him away from her, according to TMZ.
The 47-year-old comic says she was not amused with Trump’s recent saber-rattling exchanges with North Korean strongman Kim Jong Un about their respective nuclear buttons.
Kim declared in a New Year’s Day speech that his country had achieved nuclear capability and that the “nuclear button is always on my desk.”
Bamford says she was alarmed enough by Trump’s bellicose rhetoric that she filed legal documents asking a judge for a restraining order to keep him at least 1,000 yards away, TMZ reported.
She also raised concerns about Trump’s implied threat against Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign, when he suggested that “Second Amendment people” might be able to do something about his rival.
The stand-up comic – who has appeared on late-night shows such as “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “Conan” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” – is well known for her jokes about depression and anxiety.
She has described her struggles with bipolar disorder as “long periods of depression with a few days or weeks of agitated joy,” according to the Chicago Tribune.
